The most useful question before paying more is what happens when one small part fails. A cracked glass body ends the cup, but a tired gasket, lost straw, warped sleeve, or damaged lid should not necessarily do so. Replacement availability turns a multi-part product into a repairable one. It also makes a higher-priced design less risky, because the owner is not forced to discard the entire cup over a component that costs little to manufacture.
